Q. How can Populaw compete with low-cost off-the-shelf products like HotDocs?

Simple - although some suppliers draw users in with ostensibly low prices, customers should factor in the total cost of ownership of all IT solutions and not give undue consideration to low initial prices. Taking your example of HotDocs, although the software itself may seem cheap to buy, you have to consider what you are getting for your money - a programming language and toolkit; using these tools to create and maintain reliable and sophisticated automated legal precedents is quite a challenge and invariably requires firms to train staff extensively (and expensively) in using the tools as well, perhaps, as investing in any number of ancillary products and/or services that the supplier offers.
